Install AOKP Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on Galaxy S2 I9100 [Tutorial]

The official Jelly Bean for Galaxy S2 I9200 is nowhere in sight as for now. If you are among those users waiting for the official update to drop, all you can do for now is more wait. Alternatively, you can install unofficial AOKP Jally Bean 4.1.2 on SGS2 of yours right now provided that your device is rooted. Here is the step by step guide to help you along the process:

Important: First things first. This is NOT the official update but is custom Jelly Bean AOKP 4.1.2 ROM for Galaxy SII. We recommend you to backup all your important data before proceeding as all your data will be wiped out during the process.

How to Install AOKP Jelly Bean on Galaxy S2 I9100

Before you Begin:

• You need a rooted, factory unlocked Samsung Galaxy SII device that is well charged (should be above 60%).
• Backup your data, including SMS, contacts and important files.
• ClockworkMod Recovery should be installed on the device.
• Install Samsung USB drivers on the PC that you will be using.

Step 1: Download the AOKP ROM for I9100 SGS2: aokp_i9100_jb_build-5.zip

Step 2: Connect your device to the PC and copy the downloaded zip file on root of the SD card. After copying the file, you can disconnect your device from the PC.

Step 3: Start Galaxy S2 in CWM recovery mode, to do this:

1. Switch your device off
2. Press & hold Power + Home + Volume buttons
3. When the screen flashes, leave the buttons

Your device will boot in recovery mode. You can use Volume up & volume down buttons to navigate and Power button to select an option.

Step 4: In ClockworkMod recovery, select the option “wipe data/factory reset”.

This will wipe all your data. Make sure you have a backup of your data or you will lose it permanently.

Step 5: Now select the option “install zip from sdcard” and then select the zip file that you placed onto the root of your SD card in step 2 above.

Step 6: Once the installation is complete, go back to main recovery screen and reboot your device.

Your phone will now reboot. It may take some time for the first boot so be patient with it. Once it boots up, you will have a Galaxy S2 with Jelly Bean AOKP 4.1.2 Build 5 ROM installed on it. You can confirm it by navigating to Settings>About on the phone. Enjoy!
