Ever wished you could disable camera shutter sound on Android devices? By default, Android does not allow you to mute camera sound but it does not meant that it’s not possible. Silent Camera is a handy tweak that allows you to take pictures from your Android device with shutter sound disabled. It’s available for download as a zip package and can be installed on your device in custom recovery more. Here is everything you need to know and the download link:
The mod will work on any device including Galaxy S3 and other Galaxy devices, Nexus devices or any other Android device irrespective of the manufacturer. Following requirements should be met though:
- A device running AOSP based Android 4+ ROM (AOSP ICS or Jelly Bean).
- Your device should be rooted and have a custom recovery, like ClockworkMod or TWRP installed.
How to Install Enable SilentCamera 1.3

Step 1: Download the mod: Enable-SilentCamera-1.3.zip
Step 2: Connect your device to the computer and copy the downloaded zip file on root of your device’s SD card.
Step 3: Boot your device into recovery mode.
Step 4: From recovery menu, select “install zip from sdcard”, then select “choose zip from sdcard” option.
Step 5: Select the Enable SilentCamera zip file that you copied to your device in step 2.
This will kick off the installation which will take some time to complete. Please be patient.
Step 6: Once installation is complete, select “reboot system now” option to reboot your device.
That’s it! You can now disable shutter sound on Android device of yours. It works pretty fine on CyanogenMod and should work well on other AOSP 4+ based custom ROMs. It will, however, not work on stock ROM.
If you don’t like it, you can disable it easily:
Uninstall SilentCamera Mod
Flash the downloaded zip file on your device using same steps as described above.
