Manually Install Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 on Galaxy Nexus (takju)

Please note that: To install this update, your device should be running Android 4.2.1 JOP40D update. So, if you have not upgraded yet, please upgrade Galaxy Nexus to JOP40D first.

After downloading, you can install Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 on Galaxy Nexus GSM by using any of following 2 methods that best suits you:

  1. From stock Recovery
  2. Install OTA using CWM Recovery

Method 1: Install Android 4.2.2 OTA Manually from Stock Recovery

Step 1: Rename the downloaded file to “update.zip”.

Step 2: Copy the update.zip file on root of the storage.

Step 3: Start your device in Recovery mode. To do this, first switch your device off and then:

  1. Press & hold Volume down + Volume up + Power buttons together.
  2. Leave the buttons when you see “Start” on top of device’s screen.
  3. Scroll up to “Recovery” option using Volume buttons.
  4. Press Power button to select “Recovery”
  5. Now you will see the exclamation mark on screen. Press & hold Volume up + Power buttons to get into the recovery mode.

Step 4: In Recovery mode, select “update from SD card” option and then select the update.zip file that you placed on SD card in step 2.

Method 2: Install Android 4.2.2 OTA Update with CWM (On Rooted Galaxy Nexus Device)

Step 1: Rename the downloaded file to “update.zip”.

Step 2: Copy the update.zip file on root of your device storage.

Step 3: Boot your device in CWM Recovery mode. To do this:

  1. Switch off your device
  2. Press & hold Volume buttons + Power button to boot into bootloader mode (Note: button combination may vary depending on your device)
  3. Now select “Recovery” option using Power button to boot into CWM recovery mode

Step 4: Once in CWM recovery mode:

  • Select option “install zip from sdcard
  • Then select “choose zip from sdcard
  • Now select the zip file that you want to install (the file that you copied onto the device)
  • When it asks for confirmation, select “Yes” to start installation

Step 5: After installation is complete, navigate back to main recovery screen and select “reboot system now” option to reboot your device.

This will install Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2 JDQ39 OTA update on your device. Enjoy!
