The official Android 4.2.2 for HTC One update is finally here. HTC has started rolling out HTC One 2.24.709.1 update that brings Jelly Bean 4.2.2 to their flagship Android device. Along with Android 4.2.2, this update also brings some UI improvements and feature enhancements. You can finally have the option to show battery percentage in status bar without using any tweaks. Taiwan users are currently receiving this update OTA which is expected to be rolled out to other regions soon. Here are the details:
What’s New in 2.24.709.1 – HTC One 4.2.2 Update
As per official release notes, this update contains important bug fixes and improvements that include:
- Android 4.2.2 update
- Launcher bar enhancement
- Widget panel rearrangement
- New Lock screen style widget
- Enhanced Home button behavior
- Home button options to make navigation menu bar removable
- Show battery level in status bar
- Quick settings panel: 12 default settings by new touch gesture
Gallery / Camera:
- AE/AF lock feature: Lock Exposure / Focus on viewfinder screen
Update HTC One to 2.24.709.1 OTA Update
To enjoy all these awesome features and to get the latest Android 4.2.2 on HTC One, you need to update to 2.24.709.1 software update. As stated earlier, this update is currently rolling out to users in Taiwan. More international devices are expected to be receiving this update soon. There is no official word on when the software will be released though.
To check if the software update is available yet for your device or not: navigate to Settings > About Phone and then tap on “System Update”. This will check if a software update is available and will notify you if it’s the case. You can tap on “Update” to install it.
This update is 465MB in size, so before you try installing it make sure that you are connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network and that your device is charged enough to last through the update process.
