CF-Root XXEMR2 I9300: How to Root Galaxy S3 4.1.2

Vodafone Germany Samsung Galaxy S3 4.1.2 update (I9300XXEMR2) became available earlier today. If you updated, you can now use ChainFire’s CF-Root for I9300XXEMR2 to root Galaxy S3 on 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware. This has to be the first thing that you should do after installing the update. Here is the step by step guide:

How to Root Galaxy S3 I9300 XXEMR2 (Jelly Bean 4.1.2)

Before you begin, please make sure to:

  • Install Galaxy S3 USB drivers on your PC
  • Backup your data
  • Enable USB debugging on Galaxy S3

Step 1: Download required files:

Step 2: Extract both the downloaded zip files, you will get:

  • A file named: CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar
  • A dolfer named: Odin3_v3.04

Step 3: Launch Odin3_v3.04.exe to start Odin application.

Step 4: Boot your device in download mode. To do this:

  1. Switch your phone off
  2. Hold Volume down + Home buttons & then press Power button till you see a disclaimer on screen.
  3. Then press Volume up followed by Power buttons to enter download mode.

Step 5: Connect your phone to the computer now.

When you connect your phone (in download mode) to the computer (while Odin is running), Odin will detect the connected device. You will see a message in Odin which will confirm it. Also, one of the ID:COM boxes in Odin will turn yellow and will display the COM port number.

Step 6: In Odin, click on PDA button, then browse and select CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar file.

Step 7: Now click on “Start” button.

Caution: Before clicking start button, make sure that Re-partition checkbox is NOT selected.

This will start the root process. When it’s done, you will have CWM Recovery and SuperSU on I9300 Galaxy S3 device of yours. Enjoy!
