Google has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 to Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10, Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 devices. The update brings stability and performance enhancements to Android devices and reportedly improves the battery life and Bluetooth enhancements. As with any other update, this update is being released for Nexus devices first. Other devices will follow soon. The roll out is still in process and will take some time to complete. You can hope to receive the Android 4.2.2 OTA update for your device soon.
Google has been preparing to release Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update for quite some time now. This is a minor update released to bring better performance to users. There are no new features in this release, as one can expect, which Google will be holding off for upcoming Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Please note that, the devices eligible for this update are those with Android 4.2.1 JOP40D installed and running. So, if you have not updated to JOP40D yet, you cannot get the JDQ39 OTA update. Jelly Bean 4.2.1 JOP40D was released back in November.
To Get Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 OTA Update:
- Upgrade your device to Android 4.2.1 JOP40D, if you have not done it already.
- Navigate to Settings > Apps > All
- Force Stop “Google Services Framework”
- Then tap on “Clear Data”
- Now navigate back to Settings, then go to About and check for System Update there
If this does not work, you can repeat the steps. Or if you do not want it quick, just wait for the OTA :).
