Paranoid Android 3.50 for Nexus 4 has been released and is now available for download. PA 3.50 brings the Paranoid Android’s Halo to Nexus 4 smartphones. For those who don’t know, Halo is a new multi window / overlay feature of Paranoid ROM that makes the notifications from the apps to appear on top of your screen allowing you to view the notifications and switch between apps easily. The feature is now available for wide range of Nexus devices. Here’s how you can get it:
Download & Install Paranoid Android 3.50 on Nexus 4
Halo is embedded in newest nightly build of Paranoid Android 3.50 for Nexus 4. You can download and install it on your device:
WARNING: This is a very early build of Halo implementation and may contain bugs. Nightly builds are usually meant for testing and are not recommended for everyday usage. Continue at your own risk.
- Nexus 4 with a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP Recovery
Before you Begin:
- Make sure that your device is well (if not fully) charged.
- Backup your important data including Contacts, SMS / MMS, APN & MMS Settings as well as photos and videos stored on your device’s internal or external storage.
- Enable USB Debugging on your device if not already enabled.
Now lets kick off the process to flash PA 3.50 on Nexus 4 (mako):
Important: Please note that, this guide is based on the process to flash custom ROM using ClockworkMod Recovery.
Step 1: Download the required files:
Step 2: Connect your device to the computer via USB cable.
Step 3: Copy the downloaded ROM and GApps zip files on your device storage.
Step 4: Boot Nexus 4 in custom recovery mode.
Step 5: Take a NANDROID backup of your ROM:
- From Recovery screen, select “Backup and Restore”.
- Now select “Backup” to start the nandroid backup process.
Step 6: Navigate back to main recovery screen and select “wipe data/factory reset” option now. Confirm to wipe your data.
Step 7: After wiping data, select “install zip from sdcard” > “choose zip from sdcard”.
Step 8: Now select the ROM zip file that you copied on to your device in step 3.
This will start the ROM installation process which will take some time. Please wait while the ROM is being flash onto your device.
Step 9: Repeat the process to flash PA GApps now.
Step 10: Once installation is complete, navigate to main recovery screen and select the option “reboot system now” to restart your device.
Your phone will not boot into newly installed ROM. Please wait as it may take some time for the first time. Once it boots up, enjoy the PA Halo on your Nexus 4 and let us know your feedback.
