Install Android 4.2 Keyboard APK on 4.1, ICS & Gingerbread
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean introduced Gesture Typing feature. You may not upgrade to 4.2 as yet but you can definitely download Android 4.2 keyboard apk and install it on your device. The app can be installed easily. Here are the download links and instructions on how to do it.
DISCLAIMER: Continue at your own risk and make sure to backup your ROM so that you can restore back to it if things get messed up. Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread users may want to give it a try too, to see if it works. We have NOT tested it personally and cannot guarantee if it works smoothly or not. How to Install Android 4.2 Keyboard with Gesture Typing
Installation is pretty simple and straightforward for those who have previously installed an apk file manually.
Step 1: On your device, enable installation from unknown sources:
- On Android ICS or Jelly Bean: navigate to Settings > Security and make sure that “Unknown Sources” option is checked.
- On Android Gingerbread: navigate to Settings > Applications and check the “Unknown Sources”.
Step 2: Place the downloaded apk file on your phone memory or SD card.
Step 3: Browse and install the apk file using a file manager.
The Android 4.2 keyboard app should now be installed. If this process does not work, you will need to download the flashable zip file and install it. Here’s now to do it:
Before you begin: Please use this method only if the apk installation fails with steps given above.
Step 1: Root your device if its not rooted already.
Step 3: Flash the downloaded zip file.
Step 4: Reboot your device.
